Shop Riverside is a three-fold campaign designed to educate residents on the benefits of shopping locally, generate excitement about Riverside’s broad range of retail and restaurant options and increase sales tax revenue to fund city services.

Every time you purchase an item at a business, dine at your favorite eatery or take in a movie in Riverside, sales tax dollars come back to the City to continue fire, police, museum, park, transportation, public works, youth programs and much more!

The sales tax rate in Riverside County is 8.75%, of which 1% comes back to the City. Sales tax makes up roughly 25% of the total General Fund revenues, which support essential city services. Additionally, a portion of this sales tax also goes to the county for transportation projects, helping to reduce traffic congestion and improving roads within the city.
