Riverside, Ca- At approximately 8:44 am today, Riverside Police received a call from a jogger who reported seeing a body floating in the Gage Canal at the east dead end of John Street Responding officers found a deceased, Afro American male, approximately 50–60 years of age, floating face down in the water. The man was fully clothed. Detectives were summoned to the area and are treating the incident as a suspicious death.
The identity of the individual is not being released at this time, pending notification of the next of kin. The cause of death has also not been determined, pending the results of an autopsy.
