The City of Riverside has accumulated numerous awards for excellence in city governance and public service.  Listed below are some of the awards for 2006-2007.

Community Development Department
  • Code Enforcement Division
    2007 -- The Code Enforcement Division received AACEtwo awards in 2007 from the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE). The first award was for Innovative Enforcement Techniques for developing a special team of investigating officers called the Investigative Neighborhood Enhancement Team (INET).
    The second was for Printed Materials for developing a series of educational postcards where important information about City standards is relayed to the community through a friendly and light-hearted manner.
Finance Department (City Manager's Office)
  • 2007-08 -- The Government Finance Officers Association that the City has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2007/08 Annual Budget document.
  • NPI2007 -- Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award given by the National Purchasing Institute annually to public agencies that excel in procurement practices.

    2007 -- California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) 2007 Award of Merit recipients for top Economic Development Program.

  • South Coast Air Quality Management District2007 -- Clean Air Award by the South Coast Air Quality Management District for Innovative Transportation Projects for the Five Cities Hydrogen Program. This prestigious award honors the visionaries in our region who have helped in the fight for clean air through innovation, leadership and exemplary service.
Information Technology
  • Best of Web Award 20072007 -- The Center for Digital Government Best of Web is an annual awards program that recognizes the most innovative, user-friendly state and local government portals.
  • Best of Web Award 20072007 -- Digital Cities Survey Recognizes cities that are using technology to create a seamless environment between local government and constituents
Office of the Mayor
  • America's Promise Alliance2008 -- America’s Promise Alliance, the nations’ largest alliance dedicated to children and youth, named the City of Riverside as one of America’s 100 Best Communities for Young People.
  • 2007 -- City of Riverside Youth Council Advisor Connie Howard Leach received the National Child Labor Committee’s prestigious Lewis Hine Award.

  • 2007 -- The new Magnolia Policing Center won the Exceptional Buildings Award for adaptive re-use at the Western Council of ConstructionConsumers' Distinguished Project Awards.
