RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Thursday, March 11, 2010 marked the official opening of the newly completed Colombia Avenue bridge.

"With 26 at grade (street level) train crossings, commuters in the City of Riverside feel the impact of regional and national train traffic every day," said Siobhan Foster, Director of Public Works. The intersection of trains and streets causes safety issues to pedestrians and vehicles, delays traffic, slows response times for emergency vehicles, creates train horn noise and impacts air quality due to idling cars.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - In 2010, getting to and from your destination is easier because of improvements to traffic signal timing throughout the City of Riverside. Signals all over town are being synchronized, allowing drivers traveling at the speed limit to make several green lights in a row.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) wants city residents to cool off this summer - the natural way.

For the next four months, RPU electric customers will be able to get free shade trees at participating Riverside nurseries to plant in their yards simply by presenting a coupon from the back of their March bills. The coupon allows a customer to take home one tree that costs $25 or less to plant on their property. RPU customers have until June 30 to redeem the coupon.
