Columbia Avenue Bridge Opens!

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Thursday, March 11, 2010 marked the official opening of the newly completed Colombia Avenue bridge.
"With 26 at grade (street level) train crossings, commuters in the City of Riverside feel the impact of regional and national train traffic every day," said Siobhan Foster, Director of Public Works. The intersection of trains and streets causes safety issues to pedestrians and vehicles, delays traffic, slows response times for emergency vehicles, creates train horn noise and impacts air quality due to idling cars. Traffic Signals Synchronized to move City of Riverside Commuters

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - In 2010, getting to and from your destination is easier because of improvements to traffic signal timing throughout the City of Riverside. Signals all over town are being synchronized, allowing drivers traveling at the speed limit to make several green lights in a row.
"Not only does this save time for drivers, but air quality is improved as congested bottlenecks are removed and the traffic flows more smoothly," said Mayor Ronald O. Loveridge. Read More... |

Riverside starts annual free shade tree program

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) wants city residents to cool off this summer - the natural way.
For the next four months, RPU electric customers will be able to get free shade trees at participating Riverside nurseries to plant in their yards simply by presenting a coupon from the back of their March bills. The coupon allows a customer to take home one tree that costs $25 or less to plant on their property. RPU customers have until June 30 to redeem the coupon. Read More... |

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Businesses that move to the City of Riverside could receive a 40 percent break on their electricity bills in the first year of operation and a 20 percent rate reduction in the second year under the terms of a renewed economic development rate structure approved Tuesday by Riverside City Council. Riverside residents now have extra incentive to leave their cars in the garage and use public transportation, thanks to a new program - 'Riverside Go Transit.' All Riverside residents can purchase RTA bus passes from the City at substantial savings: 30 day passes will be discounted by 30% and 7 day passes at 25%. Read More... |
